Taking a break from Social Media

Taking a break from your social pages?

Good for you!

No matter the reason, unplugging from social media is great for your mental health and good for the soul. Before signing off, here are a few considerations and tips.

  1. Let your audience know that you are taking a break and when they can expect you back. Couple your message with a fun picture of you, your destination or holiday plans.

  2. Spend some time creating bulk content and scheduling using Meta or an app like Later. This way, your social accounts remain active, while you are soaking up the holiday vibes.  Don’t forget to schedule a few extra posts as a ‘buffer’ when you return.

  3. Unplug - delete social media and work-related apps from your phone. Sounds extreme, but it removes temptation and mindless scrolling - giving your mental space to focus on the world around you.  Fear not, you can easily reinstall the app when it’s time to get back to work mode!

You’ve unplugged, so how do you reboot your pages?

 1. Share the reason you were offline

Was there a reason you took a break, rather than a holiday? Open up to your audience and let them know why you put the phone down for a little bit, and maybe what you’ve learnt from doing so and how you’re feeling now.

2. Tease something coming up

Got something coming up? Now is the perfect time to tease your audience! Tie in your break with how you’ve just been so busy with this oh-so-exciting launch and that you can’t wait to finally share what it is.

3. Throw up a camera roll dump!

The new trend of ‘camera roll dumping’ is a quick and easy way to show what you’ve been up to. The “dump” is basically uploading a carousel of up to 10 images, with no rules on whether any of the photos are even related to each other. Low effort and on trend = double win!

4. Keep it Reel

Similar to the ‘camera roll dump’, but a bit more fancy. There are countless reel templates available which allows you to simply add video and images from your camera roll. The content is then cycled, while synced with the template music.
